About this site
germanbasicwords.com is one word list and four ways to practise it. No account, no paywall, no course to sell. It exists because the first hundred words of a language are the highest-leverage thing a beginner can spend time on, and most tools bury them inside something larger.
What is here
182 German words — the 100 most frequent lemmas measured from a real corpus, plus 82 everyday words that frequency ranking alone misses. Every word has its article and plural where relevant, a part of speech, an example sentence, and translations into five languages. 36 carry a note where the word is a common trap. Each has its own page with the declension, conjugation or case table it needs.
Privacy
There is nothing to sign up for and no personal data is collected. Your progress, chosen language and settings live in your own browser's localStorage and are never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data resets your progress, and progress does not sync between devices. Word audio comes from your device's own speech synthesis, so no audio request leaves your browser either.
Corrections
If you find a translation, article, plural or example sentence that is wrong or misleading, that is worth reporting — accuracy matters more here than coverage. The same goes for the non-English pages: they were written for this site and have not yet been through a native-speaker review.
