Spaced repetition for German
Reviewing everything every day wastes most of the effort on words you already know. Spaced repetition shows you a word just as you are about to forget it, which is the point at which reviewing it does the most good.

The forgetting curve, briefly
Memory for a new word decays quickly at first and then more slowly. Each successful recall flattens that curve, so the word survives longer before the next review is needed. Reviewing too early wastes the effort; reviewing too late means relearning from scratch. The scheduling exists to keep you near the useful middle.
How this one works
This site uses a Leitner box system, which is the simplest scheduling that actually works. Every word sits in a box from 0 to 4. Get it right and it moves up a box and comes back less often; get it wrong and it drops straight back to box 0. A word counts as mastered once it reaches box 3. The review session pulls the words with the lowest boxes first, so the ones you are shakiest on come round soonest.
Short and often beats long and rare
Three ten-minute sessions across three days will do more than one thirty-minute session, because each session is another chance to recall at the edge of forgetting. The streak counter on the home screen is there for exactly that reason.
