German flashcards
Flashcards for the 100 most frequent German words plus 82 everyday ones — 182 cards in total. Each card shows the German word, and the reverse gives the translation, the article and plural for nouns, and an example sentence. Free, in the browser, no account.

Why flip-then-rate works
The value of a flashcard is not the reading — it is the moment before it, when you try to retrieve the answer and either can or cannot. That effort is what builds the memory, which is why the card asks you to commit before it reveals anything. Rating yourself honestly afterwards is what feeds the scheduling: words you got wrong come back soon, words you knew come back later.
What is on the back of a card
Every card carries more than a gloss: nouns show their article and plural, verbs the infinitive, and each word appears in a full example sentence with a translation. 36 cards also carry a note where the word is a common trap — a homograph like morgen and der Morgen, or an uncountable like Wasser.
Keyboard shortcuts
Space flips the card. Then 1 or a marks it for review, 2 or g marks it known. Fast enough to get through a session without touching the mouse.
